Psychiatry Masterclass with Dr. Mena Frequently Asked Questions

Who is this course designed for?

The Psychiatry Masterclass was built specifically for Advanced Practice Providers who are ready to practice psychiatry with real confidence. That includes:

  • PMHNP students preparing for clinical practice
  • Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners looking to sharpen their prescribing and clinical judgment
  • Nurse Practitioners transitioning into psychiatry
  • Physician Assistants (PAs) expanding into behavioral health
  • Any clinician who wants stronger, more practical psychiatry training

If you have ever felt underprepared walking into a psychiatric evaluation or uncertain when making prescribing decisions, this course was made for you.

Who teaches the course?

The course is taught by Dr. Mena Mirhom, MD, FAPA, a Board-Certified Psychiatrist, Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, and Columbia University-trained physician with over a decade of experience shaping the next generation of clinicians.

Dr. Mirhom has taught medical students and clinicians for more than 10 years, co-authored 4 books, and served in academic and leadership roles across some of the most demanding clinical environments in the country. He is a Forbes contributor, Section Editor at Psychiatric Times, and Chief Wellbeing Officer at Athletes for Hope.

This is not a course built by someone who only teaches. Dr. Mirhom sees patients, trains clinicians, writes for national publications, and brings all of that experience into every module.

Is the course self-paced?

Yes. All recorded lecture modules are available on demand. You can learn at your own pace, revisit material before seeing patients, and fit your education around your schedule without sacrificing depth or quality.

Does the course focus on real-world psychiatry practice?

Absolutely. The entire curriculum is built around what actually happens in the exam room. Rather than loading you down with theory you will never use, Dr. Mirhom walks you through real clinical scenarios, practical decision-making frameworks, and the nuanced judgment calls that define good psychiatric care. You will leave each module better prepared for your next patient encounter.

Will psychopharmacology be covered?

Yes, and in depth. Psychopharmacology is one of the most critical and often undertaught areas for APPs entering psychiatry. The course covers medication selection and management, prescribing considerations across diagnoses, clinical pearls you will not find in a textbook, and recognition and management of medication-related complications and emergencies. You will prescribe with confidence.

Is this course appropriate for new psychiatric providers?

Absolutely. Whether you are just starting out or have been practicing for years, this course meets you where you are. New providers gain the foundational confidence and clinical structure they need. Experienced clinicians sharpen their decision-making and fill gaps that traditional training left behind.

How much does the subscription cost?

The Psychiatry Masterclass subscription is $99 per month. That is less than the cost of a single CE credit course for access to ongoing clinical education, mentorship, and downloadable resources.

How do I enroll?

You can enroll directly here: mena-mirhom-s-school.teachable.com/l/pdp/advanced-psychiatry-for-nurse-practitioners-clinical-mastery-beta-cohort

Will additional course materials be provided?

Yes. Every subscriber receives downloadable presentations, clinical handouts, and educational materials designed to support your practice immediately. These are resources you can return to again and again as your caseload grows and evolves.

Is mentorship included?

Yes. One of the core commitments of the Masterclass is ongoing guidance from a clinician who has trained hundreds of providers across academic and real-world settings. Dr. Mirhom brings the mentorship model he developed at Columbia into this course, so you are not just watching lectures. You are building clinical judgment alongside someone who genuinely invests in your growth.

How is this course different from traditional psychiatry education?

Traditional NP training programs give you the foundation. This course gives you what comes after: the practical skills, prescribing confidence, and clinical decision-making framework you need to actually practice psychiatry well. Drawn from over a decade of teaching medical students and APPs, co-authoring four books, and practicing in high-acuity settings, Dr. Mirhom delivers the education that closes the gap between classroom and clinical reality.
